Next Past & Present Reading Group Text

This is to announce that the Past & Present Reading Group will be meeting to discuss, on a weekly basis, our next text which is Georg Lukács, History and Class Consciousness: Studies in Marxist Dialectics [1922] (MIT Press, 1971).

Our meetings will commence next month, with the first meeting to be held on Zoom on Thursday 9 October 4:00pm-5:00pm (AEST). For that meeting group members should have read only the Prefaces to ease us into the text.

We have just finished our eighteenth book in the group, which was Cedric J. Robinson, Black Marxism: The Making of the Black Radical Tradition and a commentary on that will be available soon to accompany all the other books we have read, which are available by clicking on the book titles, below:

Adam David Morton is Professor of Political Economy at the University of Sydney. He is author of Unravelling Gramsci: Hegemony and Passive Revolution in the Global Political Economy (2007); Revolution and State in Modern Mexico: The Political Economy of Uneven Development (2011), recipient of the 2012 Book Prize of the British International Studies Association (BISA) International Political Economy Group (IPEG); and co-author of Global Capitalism, Global War, Global Crisis (2018) with Andreas Bieler. The volume Henri Lefebvre, On the Rural: Economy, Sociology, Geography is out in 2022 with University of Minnesota Press, co-edited with Stuart Elden.
