This section of Progress in Political Economy is dedicated to a forum on Samuel Knafo’s book The Making of Modern Finance: Liberal Governance and the Gold Standard.
The book was awarded the prestigious International Political Economy Group (IPEG) Book Prize of the British International Studies Association, for 2014.
The forum starts with an overview of the book’s main aims by Samuel Knafo, entitled The Politics of Liberal Financial Governance, and is then succeeded by a series of commentaries from political economists that approach the text from different backgrounds, interests, and normative positions.
These are listed below to include, so far:
- Samuel Knafo, ‘The Politics of Liberal Financial Governance’
- Martijn Konings, ‘Historicising Finance’
- Christine Desan, ‘Reading The Making of Modern Finance as an Invitation to Critical Uses of History’
- Adrienne Roberts, ‘Gendering the Making of Modern Finance?’
